Mirabell

We didn't feel safe or comfortable, so we ended up finding somewhere else to stay. The apartment wasn't very clean or pleasant, and while it's near the train station, the location otherwise wasn't great. Nobody told us, either on the website or by the owner, that the place is shared with other people who have their own bedrooms there.

The room itself was warm and cosy, but dealing with the staff was a really bad experience. The listing calls this a hotel, though it's more of a family business in a building with private apartments, and there is no reception. There was no sign showing where to go, so we had to call the manager to come upstairs and find out it was on the 1st floor. The main issue came after the first night. We had booked two nights and had an email confirmation, but the manager called and demanded that we come back right away to check out and remove our bags, saying we had booked only one night. She wouldn't let us explain and didn't try to sort it out. We were already travelling to another city, so we took a train back to Bergamo to talk in person. She had no email address where we could send the payment confirmation, which would be unusual at a real hotel. While we were on the train back, she called again and said we could stay the second night after all. Our day trip was ruined, and we lost money on train tickets that nobody will reimburse. When we returned, our things had been moved out of the room and bathroom and then put back. My pyjamas and one bed's duvet were missing. When we called again, a man answered, couldn't help, and hung up. All that stress for nothing 😊 I wouldn't recommend it.

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a kitchen and living room shared with others. Booking the whole place could work well for a big family or friends travelling together. On our first night, a couple arrived late and kept walking between their bedroom, the kitchen, and bathroom all night. They locked their bathroom with a key even though each apartment had its own bathroom. We could hear the door locking and unlocking as well as them in the hallway. We only got some rest after they left at 5 o'clock in the morning, and they left dirty dishes in the sink. Your stay really depends on what sort of neighbours you get.

It's close to town and good value, and we had no trouble with the other guests. Breakfast is provided, though this is really a shared flat, so I'm not sure I'd describe it as a bed and breakfast. I can imagine it working much better if you come with a large group. The place itself was fine, but the description is a bit off.
