Wouldn’t recommend this area. 😞😕

I didn’t end up staying here. The owner quoted me €35 a night for a single room over the phone, but at check-in tried to put me in a double room with another person for that same price. When I raised a concern, she offered a double room for single use at €65 a night instead, saying the €35 single room meant a “single bed.” I work in the industry, so I pointed out that this didn’t match the price list at reception. She stuck to her explanation and at first wouldn’t let me photograph the list. Really embarrassing. If I could, I’d give it zero.

It’s a hostel with clean rooms, basic furniture, and an ensuite bathroom, though there’s no bidet. The building used to be a prison, and its walls are about a meter thick. Wi-Fi is available but the signal is so-so, and there’s no cell phone signal. Breakfast is basic. The price is excellent.

The quiet here is almost fairytale-like at night, and the rooms look out over the main square or the Serra mountain range. It’s in Biella Piazzo, the historic upper part of Biella, in a former prison that’s been thoughtfully renovated into a hostel. The rooms are good quality for reasonable prices.
