Valentina Lovely Rooms

I stayed at Valentina’s B&B because I had an early flight out of Birgi and needed somewhere just a few kilometers from the airport. I expected to need a stay there on my return too, which was meant to be late but not too late. The B&B is a Mediterranean-style villa in the countryside, with spacious, comfortable renovated rooms, private bathrooms, and large showers. Breakfast is self-service. It was quiet and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. My flight back ended up landing more than two hours late in the middle of the night, but Valentina still came to pick me up at the airport. I’m very grateful for her kindness and helpfulness. I had a wonderful stay, and it turned out to be the best solution for my needs.

We found the place easily accessible and quiet, and were able to pick up the keys and get in even though the host wasn’t there. They still got in touch and were helpful and friendly. There’s just one parking space inside, but when it’s taken, you can park on the street for free without worry. Our room didn’t have a bidet.

For anyone staying a few days in a B&B, hotel, or rental room, I think good sleep and breakfast are essential. I’m sorry to say I didn’t get either here. The rooms are very close together, and the walls seem thin enough that you hear everything. Each time the main door opens or shuts, even the light doors move and make noise. The pillows were uncomfortable too. The rest was fine, but those pillows aren’t acceptable for guests. Breakfast in the room is a nice idea, but in Sicily I expected something local and better than a packaged croissant, juice, and two pieces of toast. The concept is good, but the execution fell short. I’m giving two stars because Giovanni was kind, though I’m not sure that will be enough in the long run.

The host was kind and helpful, and the room was clean, though small and a bit retro. There’s a little outdoor courtyard, and breakfast is basic: a small garden table with packaged snacks and rusks, plus a coffee machine. The place is fairly quiet but also isolated, with nothing nearby, so you’ll need transport to get around. A pizzeria delivers good pizza. The airport is about a five-minute drive away, but it’s over 4 km on a provincial road, so walking there isn’t really an option. I’d stop at a supermarket for groceries before arriving.
