We wouldn't go back. The food was under par and the dishes were put together terribly. Even allowing for the location and overhead, I thought the restaurant was overpriced. The photos of our second course say plenty, and for a place in the Michelin Guide, there seemed to be no thought put into making a decent plate. It feels like it runs on its old reputation. The service started badly too: we waited half an hour for starters that should have been simple to prepare, tortellini in brodo and steak tartare. The timing was off as well. I'll stop here before I take back the three stars I gave it.

The sausage grimgna pasta was the standout, and all the pasta was excellent. Best pasta we had in bologna, amazing stuff. The secondi was only alright, so I'd stick to pasta. It felt like an upscale place that was nice without being pretentious. The negative service reviews don't match what we experienced.

We enjoyed dinner at Trattoria Battibecco, tucked into a narrow street in the city center. The food was delicious, the wine list felt carefully chosen, and each dish was beautifully done. The room leaned a little formal, but we still had a great time. A good choice for a more upscale meal in Bologna. Book ahead.

The room felt modern, and the fresh menu made a nice change from the more traditional places. I had the shrimp and yellow curry risotto, which was great. The shrimp and calamari came in a cone and were called fried, but they were actually baked, light, and airy. Everything was absolutely delicious.

We had a top-notch fine dining meal here. Local favorites were skillfully prepared, the dining room was beautiful, and the staff were really friendly. A must-try while you're in Bologna.
