The first night of my two-night stay went fine. At 12:30 AM on the second night, though, the outside keypad failed and I couldn't get into the flat. I called the emergency number they provided, but no one picked up. A few minutes later someone contacted me on WhatsApp; I explained what had happened and got no response after that (see photo). This is the one thing that should never happen to a guest. I was alone, but imagine being locked out in the middle of the night with kids. I could probably sue the management, but luckily for them I don't have the time. A horrible experience.

The apartment is in a quiet, leafy, safe residential area, though it's a bit far from the city. What let the stay down was the service, which was close to nonexistent, and the poor communication. There were no cleaning tablets for the washing machine, the pillows were lumpy, and we weren't given enough towels for four days. It didn't feel like four-star quality, and I was disappointed.

I booked the wrong date by mistake and realized it five minutes later. I tried to change the booking or cancel, but for several days I couldn't speak or write to anyone who could help. Every interaction was with AI bots and got nowhere. The phone numbers went unanswered, and the WhatsApp contact only replied with an AI bot by text. I finally got a call in the early evening on the day I was meant to arrive, which was the wrong date, asking when I would arrive. It seemed no one had read the Booking.com or WhatsApp messages. I was charged the full price too. I know the original mistake was mine, so I'm not giving the lowest score, but I expected at least a human response or a chance to speak to someone.

The apartment was lovely and roomy, with everything we needed. From there, it's a convenient 30-minute walk to the old city center, or up to the beautiful views at Santuario Madonna di San Luca on the hill above the city.
