The people running the place were very, very nice, but it’s just not a good hotel. The rooms are deeply outdated, and the whole place smells of cigarettes. Breakfast was nasty, with grey, overcooked eggs. After cleaning, the maid left our room wide open. Nothing was stolen, but that was really irresponsible. Maybe it works for truckers or people stopping for a night on the road. I wouldn’t recommend a longer stay. It’s a long way from both the city center and the railway station.

The location was just okay, since there’s a bus stop beside the hotel that goes downtown. Breakfast was a mess, honestly, though at least there was coffee and croissants. The Wi-Fi was horrible, and one staff member didn’t speak English. We chose the place because it was fairly cheap, but it still wasn’t cheap enough. It’s supposed to be 3 stars, and I can’t see how. Our room was meant to have AC, but it didn’t. They said the hotel was quite hot, even though it was freezing at night, and gave us a heater instead. The extra bed cover looked really old and didn’t keep us warm. The room was dirty, especially under the bed, and looked really old, with part of the wall falling apart. I don’t recommend it at all.

A decent budget place, with a handy 15-minute bus ride to Central Bologna. Breakfast was included and good, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The air conditioning wasn’t great, the shower head kept loosening and falling, and some lights didn’t work. The wiring or fixtures seem old.

The rooms were clean and spacious, though a bit noisy. A decent place for a night while traveling.

Maxim is in a typical Bologna neighborhood, close to the town center but not in it. You can leave your car in the parking lot and take bus 25 or 25a to the city center or the fair. Nearby is Al Cambio, one of the best restaurants. The hotel could use a little restoration. Giusy at the bar and receptionists Karen and Charles were helpful and kind with our pets. Well-behaved pets are accepted for €10,00.
