Four Rooms

I booked a room a month ahead and already had confirmation. When I checked my booking today, the hotel manager had cancelled it. He said, “I’m sorry, the room is booked for someone else.” I told him I’d already booked it, but he said he didn’t know. How would you feel if that happened to you? Never mind, I don’t know. Think before booking a reservation at this B&B.

I stayed for 3 nights and felt right at home. The house was very clean, the service was perfect, and breakfast was good. It’s in the quiet San Donato quarter, with a bus stop right outside. You can take that bus to the city centre, or use another stop to get to Bologna Centrale, the city’s central train station. From there, you can go anywhere in Italy.

We paid the full price for the room, but when we arrived the hotel was already closed. They’d asked about our arrival time in the booking chat, and I said around 23:00. They told me the keys would be at a Chinese restaurant until 23:00, when it closed. After that, they stopped replying to my messages and calls. Our flight was delayed by about 40 minutes, and we tried to reach them. With our two-year-old, we had to look for a room in the middle of the night. We knocked on random hotels and were eventually lucky enough to find one available, even though we’d warned this hotel we’d be arriving late. The listing said check-in was until 21:00, but didn’t say there’d be nowhere to get in after that. Hotels and Airbnbs commonly leave keys in a box for self check-in when reception closes, and that’s what we expected. The hotel refused to discuss a refund and told me I should be more organised.

The price was great for what we got, and the location was good. Our host was very kind. I’d recommend it!
