La Colombina

The tortellini in crema di parmigiano was the standout, easily one of the best pasta dishes we had in the city. The tartare was good too. Tagliatelle al ragù was decent, though it didn’t stand out like the other dishes. It’s a really nice restaurant, with good service and a pleasant, comfortable space.

Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere all made this the best place for us in Bologna. Everything we tried was very palatable. The beef tartar came with excellent mayo sauce, and both the beef sirloin and chicken cottoleta were melt-in-your-mouth tender. For dessert, pana al forno had the perfect bittersweet caramel and was a little better than the zuppa inglese, though both were fine. The dishes can all be shared.

We arrived without a reservation and they kindly found us a place on the terrace, which made the evening feel special. Vicolo Colombina is just steps from Piazza Maggiore, with an elegant but welcoming atmosphere and plenty of authentic Bolognese charm. The menu has a wide range of traditional food with creative touches. Everything was full of flavor and beautifully presented, and the quality and freshness of the ingredients came through. The pasta was silky, al dente, and full of authentic flavor. Their wine list is impressive, with lots of excellent local choices. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. It’s a bit more upscale than an average trattoria, but absolutely worth it. Great food, wine, and hospitality made for an unforgettable Bologna meal.

We had the Parmesan soufflé, tortellini en brodo, tagliatelle ragu, cotoletta, and caramel flan. Every dish was spectacular, and they split the food we were sharing into separate servings, a classy touch. The service and vibe were amazing too. That much food plus some prosecco came to less than a hundred euros, which is insane. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had in Italy. If you want Bolognese cuisine that won’t break the bank, definitely come here.
