Hotel Columbus

The location worked really well, close to both the bus stop and the lake, with a supermarket nearby that's handy for a longer stay. It was good value, clean, organized, and the staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast could use more choices. They also kindly kept our bags for a few hours after checkout, which I really appreciated. Highly recommended.

It's right by the lake, bars, and restaurants, and the old town is about a 10-minute walk away. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The only problem for me was that the room's air conditioning wasn't very effective.

The location near the lake is great, and the building is lovely, clean, and nicely decorated. Our room and bathroom were spacious, but the stay didn't meet my expectations because management seemed unprofessional and inattentive to small details that matter. Maybe that's because it feels like a family-run place trying to save a little money. We couldn't use the refrigerator because it was unplugged and empty, so I had to throw away baby food I needed to store. There was no complimentary water, which I've usually found even at three-star hotels. The TV hadn't been set up, not even for free channels. Reception told me to use an HD channel starting at 501, but only Rai 1 and Rai 2 were available, so I couldn't put cartoons on for my baby. I expected at least the free channels from a four-star hotel. There's no temporary parking in front, and the hotel lot is 50 meters away, so we had to carry our luggage ourselves. Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable. They turned off the air conditioning at 7 in the morning, leaving us hot while we packed for checkout. Opening the window wasn't a good solution because flies and mosquitoes quickly filled the room, and there was no window screen. The bathroom was large enough, but the shower cubicle was too small. They also don't accept all the usual credit cards. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Being so close to the lake and all the activity made for a really pleasant stay. The staff were great again, and this hotel within its ownership group is a solid choice. There are some great options when you're in Bolsena.
