Breakfast comes with freshly baked rolls, though everything else is in individual portions. For more juice or Nespresso cups, a vending machine would fit the sci-fi feel of the place. If you want a stay where you don't see or speak to anyone, this is it. You have to check the host's latest email to find your keys and tell yourself you're welcome.

This B&B, out among the orchards outside Bozen, felt like a real oasis where I could recharge. There's no Wi-Fi, but you can relax on the terrace and listen to the birds. Free parking, and it's cyclist-friendly.

A quiet spot, best suited to people traveling by car. The room had a balcony with a lovely mountain view, and the hostess was friendly.

They gave us a comfortable travel cot for our baby, and even pointed us to somewhere for dinner. We were welcomed warmly when we arrived, despite being late. Everything was fine!
