Hotel Business Resort Parkhotel Werth

We spent two nights here in December. The room on the first floor was warm and clean, and had a balcony. It’s a few km from the center, but there’s a bus stop a two-minute walk away, and the ride to the city center takes about 15 minutes. Private parking was a big plus. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was average and short on variety. For a 4* hotel, I expected a kettle and a mini bar.

Breakfast was delicious, but I was glad we stayed only one night. We paid more than we had for a very luxury hotel in Munich, so I couldn't be satisfied with this stay. The room was ugly and visibly worn, from the wardrobe and floors to the desk, chairs, TV, and hair dryer. The shower was kind of dirty, and the toilet was in the shower, so it got wet and the water stayed there for hours. There was no bathroom door, which meant little to no privacy in the small room. It felt like a very cheap Airbnb, but it certainly wasn't cheap. I asked a few months before arrival about checking in early, but it wasn't allowed, so we spent half a day waiting in the lobby. I expected something else from a 4 star hotel.

For the price, the quality was terrible. We booked a year in advance because this was one of the few hotels listed with an indoor pool and spa area. Nobody told us before arrival that the indoor pool and sauna were out of order. There were no apologies or explanation, just repairs, and a staff member offered a weak wish for good weather so we could use the outdoor pool. The room Wi-Fi didn't work. When we asked for help, the receptionist said he couldn't do anything. He came to the room, saw that the internet didn't work on his phone either, shrugged, and left. We also asked to change rooms and were told it wasn't up to him. The people at reception gave us the same answer morning and evening. The included breakfast had no choice and no taste. We would have been better off getting coffee and fresh pastries around the corner. The room didn't match the website description or justify the price, and nobody came to change the towels or clean it during the whole day.

After an Airbnb disaster, we needed a room fast and stumbled on this gem. We were so glad to find it. The staff, rooms, beds, and breakfast were all top class. The receptionist switched easily between languages and was incredibly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
