Kolpinghaus Bolzano

We had a very disruptive night. At 1:15 AM, the neighbors woke our whole floor by singing in the hallways, then we could hear them having sex until 3:00 AM. We called the front desk many times and sent several messages through booking.com. Weeks later, we still haven’t received an apology. If there were an emergency, I’d worry nobody would answer or help.

I spent 14 days at the Kolpinhaus during summer school, and everything was great. The location is ideal, really close to the train station, main attractions, and cafes. My room was comfortable and nice, and it was cleaned daily. Breakfast included eggs, cheese, ham, fruit, different kinds of croissants, and decent coffee.

The location was the only real positive. My room smelled like sewer, the walls were very thin, and I could hear everything from the neighbors. It felt very expensive for what it was. Breakfast wasn’t tasty, though the restaurant staff were very kind. The air conditioning didn’t work during a week when it was 30 degrees. On arrival, an older gentleman at reception was unfriendly and only said someone would look at it the next day. The following day, an older woman said they were working on it, but after three days of complaining and sweating day and night, there was still no fix. Only after four days did Juliana offer me a room with working air conditioning for my last night. Apparently only some rooms have real air conditioning, while the others have floor cooling that doesn’t really work.

For a 2-star hotel in Italy, this was a really good stay. The breakfast was very large, with lots of different foods, even ice cream, though there was no hot food like an English breakfast. The room was very clean and came with fresh linen, nice white towels, a hair dryer, hand wash, body wash, a TV, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. The bed was small. I could even hear my neighbor snoring because the sound insulation wasn’t good. Still, a good stay for two stars.
