No fan or AC, and there was no ventilation in the room, so I couldn’t sleep at night. The neighbors were loud, and voices from the next room carried through. It ended up being the worst hotel of my two-week trip to Italy.

The rooms felt almost like small apartments, with high ceilings and bathrooms nicely separated. They were really spacious too. In Verona, Italy, the hotel is in an excellent spot, just around the corner from the train station and close to bus lines. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and the staff were welcoming, friendly and professional.

Fresh bread and croissants made breakfast good, though anyone wanting bacon and scrambled eggs would need to fly a few hundred miles from mainland Europe. The deluxe room was spacious and very comfortable, and I found it spic and span each day. Hotel Buonconsiglio is close to the train and bus stations as well as the centre. If you enjoy football, you may like being able to watch matches in your room on the free SKY channels.

There’s a good selection of food and coffees and teas at breakfast, and WiFi is free and works well throughout the hotel. Parking is available nearby at a reasonable rate. Just off the centre of Trento, this is a charming, characterful hotel with very friendly staff. My room was comfortable, clean and spacious, and the bathroom was spotless with everything I needed.

The room was spacious and nice, but it was cold, and I couldn’t turn the heating up. Breakfast was an absolute disaster.
