The worst part was the fire alarms. They didn't work, and several people raised the issue more than once. Workmen came after roughly two weeks and fixed them, but one early evening the alarms went off because someone was cooking or burning something, and then they were turned off. People kept bringing it up, but nothing was done. There was no fire blanket or extinguisher in the room either. With the Winter Olympics on, there was nowhere else available, so I couldn't move out. The rooms and shared areas were clean thanks to the lovely housekeeper Monica, and the shower was hot and powerful. That's about all I can say in favor of the place. The rooms were unbearably hot even with the radiator off. The beds were uncomfortable, the pillows flat and useless, and the duvet was so thin it felt like a tissue. The kitchen was badly equipped: no draining board or dish cloth, only two forks, one with a bent prong, one teaspoon, three butter knives, two saucepans but just one lid, and one pan with a single handle that was hard to lift and drain. The coffee pot wouldn't work on the induction hob, though Monica kindly found me an electric one. I had to buy a sharp knife, chopping board, toaster, mug, and fan myself. The extractor over the hob just sends the air into the bathroom.
