The garden is large, pleasant, and well cared for, with a play area for children and a separate space for dogs. There’s also free parking on site. Still, given the high scores on Google and Booking.com, I’d expected more. Nothing disastrous, but it felt overrated to me. Our room wasn’t properly cleaned before we arrived: some dishes were dirty, and there was hair in both the shower and bidet. The room felt old, with a few things literally coming apart, and there were signs of mould in the bedroom and bathroom. We’d asked twice in advance for a travel cot for our baby, but none was available when we arrived; we only got one on the second day. Breakfast was plentiful, though mostly sweet and high in calories, with very few healthy or savoury choices. The terrace was right on the street, and the kids could get out through the bushes while people passing could look in. The pool cleaning product tasted awful and made swimming unpleasant.

Breakfast really stood out, especially the care put into setting it up. My partner asked for a vegan breakfast, and the staff went all out to make sure there were plenty of substantial choices. We stayed a couple of nights in June at Franco’s Villa, and it felt magical. The room was tastefully furnished; I understand each room has its own style. The hillside view is lovely, and the location is perfect if you’re looking to get away from it all. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, and gave us just the right amount of attention. We’d happily stay again if we’re in the area.

Frederica made us feel at home, especially during breakfast, which had an awesome spread: fresh fruit, pastries, homemade dishes, eggs, and yogurt. The villa is beautiful, the pool is nice, and the rooms were very clean. It’s a remarkable spot in a lovely, walkable area. You can stroll to the train station and into town for restaurants, a bakery, and a meat market that sells wine. The breakfast was fantastic, and there was plenty of it.

The host was so friendly, and checking in on our own was easy. We’d come back just for the excellent breakfast. It’s a beautiful house in a cozy little village, with rooms that each have their own character.
