Albergo Silene

Hotel Silene is on the main street, right in the center and close to all the attractions. My husband, our 7-year-old daughter, and I had a wonderful time there during New Year’s Eve week. A small family-run hotel right in central Bormio, with very clean rooms. There’s free parking in the courtyard, or a paid garage. The little buffet’s cakes were excellent, from the baker behind the church. I took five home! I don’t know if something was wrong with the coffee and cappuccino machine, but the coffee was terrible. Dining room hours also aren’t ideal if you want to leave early for a sports activity or excursion.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, and parking worked fine for both cars and motorcycles. The hotel is well located, but for the price it badly needs renovating. Rooms are fairly spacious and have views, but the walls are so thin you hear everything. The pillows were too high and gave me neck pain, and the mattress sagged in the middle. Breakfast was basic, and the machine coffee was frankly terrible. It’s a family-run place without frills.

Now, a day before leaving, I’m updating the review I wrote when we arrived. The hotel has been completely renovated recently but still keeps its original warmth and atmosphere. Furnishings are excellent and practical, and the rooms and bathrooms are spotless, with linen changed often. The food is generous, varied, and home-cooked. Every staff member was extremely kind and helpful. It’s in the historic center, handy for shopping and close to the bus station and free city bus stop. Highly recommended for a summer or winter holiday.
