Breakfast was fine, though the tables and placemats looked worn and dirty too. The room was visibly unclean when we arrived, with hair in lots of places and dust and dirt across the floor, as if it hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. The walls were dirty, and the beds looked extremely worn. The hotel, especially our room, felt badly run down. We were grossed out and couldn’t get comfortable. I’m embarrassed to tell my husband what we actually paid. I also don’t understand its high Google rating, which was why we booked it. Really unimpressed.

Breakfast was very average, served in a dark room with no windows, not the sort of setting you’d expect in sunny Sardinia. At over €300 for one night, the stay felt like a complete rip-off. Maybe we’d have overlooked some of the problems for around €150, but we had a very poor experience and wouldn’t return or recommend the hotel. The historic building is beautiful and full of character, and our room was spacious with high ceilings. The decor, though, felt dated rather than suited to the building. A Jacuzzi and sauna had been awkwardly fitted into the room, taking away any sense of elegance. The bathroom was a prefabricated cubicle installed right in the room, with fake marble tiles and a shower entrance definitely under 50cm wide that many guests would struggle to get through. The toilet paper was in a large dispenser like one in a public bathroom. The blackout curtain left part of the window uncovered, so we couldn’t make the room dark. The air-conditioning was so loud it made sleeping difficult, and even the bed sheet wasn’t wide enough to tuck in properly.

The restaurant was fantastic, and it clearly draws plenty of local diners. As hotel guests, we got exclusive conditions that made the meal feel extra special. From my room, the castle and river looked breathtaking, like a postcard view. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to come back.

Breakfast was ok, and the location is good with free parking. We stayed in the spacious family room under the roof, but it was very old and run down. The room was extremely hot because the AC wouldn’t cool it, apparently from lack of maintenance, and there were lots of mosquitoes. For the poor quality of the room, the hotel is absolutely overpriced.
