Hotel Sporting Brugherio

The restaurant staff were some of the friendliest people we met in Italy, and the food was very good with very reasonable prices. We did have a leak in one of our rooms, but after I told reception, they dealt with it right away and moved us to another identical room.

The metro station is about a 15-minute walk away. In the room, the pillows were small and uncomfortable, there was no complimentary water or tea, and the shower cubicle leaked. I asked reception if I could make tea, and the staff member brought me a set for two. That seemed kind, until I found out in the morning that the two small teas cost €6. Breakfast was mediocre.

The carpet in the room was very dirty, and the air conditioner was so noisy, like a plane flying overhead, that sleeping meant turning the ventilation off. Those were minor things compared with what happened at checkout. We’d bought two large pieces of parmesan as gifts and left them in the room refrigerator when we rushed out early. When we came back that same day to ask whether housekeeping had found them, the bald man with glasses at reception, who looked older, shouted at us, was rude, and tossed us a room card, telling us to go check the fridge ourselves. It was empty. Nobody had told reception about the cheese or kept our forgotten things in case we returned. The hotel had our contact details from the booking, so staff could have called if they’d wanted to. There were good points: the room had good equipment, the bed was comfortable, there were two spacious parking lots, breakfast was good with attentive service, and the restaurant staff were excellent. But the receptionist’s behavior ruined the stay for me, and it left me unsure I could trust the staff. Today it’s cheese, next time it could be something much more important or valuable. I don’t recommend this place if you respect yourself, and I definitely won’t be back.

I travel often for work and personal trips, and I’ve stayed at Hotel Sporting Brugherio many times. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, the rooms are consistently clean and in good shape, and the restaurant food is excellent. It’s my favorite hotel by far, and I can only recommend Hotel Sporting Brugherio.
