We found a hill nearby on our daily walks that was high enough for a full, unobstructed 360-degree view over the landscape and towards the UNESCO-protected Val d'Orcia. We wandered through flowering clover with butterflies all around us. The farm's smells brought back old memories of my grandfather's place, which was unforgettable. My family loved it too, and we could make as much noise as we liked in the pool. Casalunga has room for a lot of people, with six bedrooms and sofa beds in the living room. We spent a sunny September there and drove home to Amsterdam feeling nostalgic. The old Casalunga farm is tucked among Tuscan hills and valleys that turn golden in autumn, watched over by a long line of tall cypress trees. Superhost Elena first sent us detailed directions that led along an unpaved road. Elena also kept sharing useful tips that aren't always in guidebooks or on websites, from local festivals and good restaurants to a spa with medicinal springs frequented mostly by Italians, a wine farm, and a coastal beach edged with very old umbrella pines. Five stars for Elena Lorenzini!
