We really liked the hotel itself, especially its historic character and boutique style. The first-floor hotel area, reached by elevator, had books, vintage decor and historical pieces that gave it a lot of personality. Our room was spacious, with a living area and bathroom, plus an upper level where we kept our bags and clothes. It had a sofa and decor that fit the hotel's style, as well as air conditioning, a coffeemaker and TV. Even with the bars, restaurants and seagulls outside, they provided earplugs. Housekeeping cleaned daily, replenished the minibar and refreshed the coffee supplies. Breakfast was included at the hotel's nearby cafe, about 40 meters away. It was a simple choice of one coffee or tea and one croissant or pastry, which might not meet everyone's expectations. The location is hard to beat, right in central Cagliari near the historic center, bus and train stations, and lots of places to eat and drink. The trouble was our host, Alessandro. After we'd paid, he sent several detailed messages about rules and obligations, including possible fines. We understood the need to explain things, but the tone felt cold and unwelcoming. At check-in, we were asked to show the same physical credit card used for payment. We'd paid online with a virtual card for security reasons, so we couldn't do that. When we explained, Alessandro became visibly agitated and told us to leave. We contacted Booking.com and showed our bank's proof of payment, and the issue was resolved, but not before he threatened to call the police and demanded a €500 deposit. It was stressful and disappointing. We later saw other reviews describing similar problems with Alessandro's attitude. It's a shame, because the hotel is special. With a more welcoming approach from the host, Il Regio Boutique Hotel could be one of Cagliari's standout places.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. The owner, or whoever replies, was SUPER rude and clearly has no idea what customer service is. I was charged for things I had NOT authorized. After I messaged him and he was extremely impolite, thankfully he returned my money. Then he canceled the reservation even though I'd already paid for three nights, saying I wasn't welcome because I was "problematic" for asking to get back money from charges I DID NOT authorize. My mother and I were left on the street and had to pay for another hotel, spending twice as much. I hadn't read the reviews beforehand, but now I can see this bad attitude and service come up repeatedly. I took several tours and made sure to show people the chats so they wouldn't recommend that hotel.

Nothing here matched the description, and it all felt like lies and deception. The owner was rude and unprofessional, and communication was nearly impossible. Total scam, stay away. Take this seriously if you're reading this, and save yourself the stress, money and disappointment. Don't assume it won't happen to you.

This is just an old apartment in a very central part of the old city. The room was dirty, there was no cleaning service, and it got loud at night because there's no soundproofing. There's no real service either. It's not a hotel, just a really bad BnB, and certainly no « a maison dU charme ». What a stupid name. Check-in was A W F U L, the staff were rude, impolite and unhelpful. I've never had such a bad experience travelling in Sardinia. Non siete all’altezza del senso dell’accoglienza sarda. Total rip-off. Avoid this place and these people.

I booked in an emergency after my flight was canceled, then found out only after booking that they couldn't accommodate check-in after 21:00. I called at 21:05, but the owners didn't answer, even though they replied to messages through the booking site. I had to find somewhere else urgently and asked them to waive the prepaid charge. They refused. I'm extremely angry with the owners. Greedy.
