Il Dito e La Luna felt like pure magic, with the surrounding area looking straight out of a Renaissance painting. It’s right beside the famous Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte, and we arrived in the middle of the Scala Illuminata festival without realizing it. Our cab driver could only get us so close through the crowds, but Roberta and Giuseppe came to find us and guide us to the B&B. Giuseppe, Donatella, and Roberta were incredibly kind and welcoming. Each morning we had a picture-perfect breakfast at a little table beside the Stairs, with excellent coffee and cappuccinos, local pastries, cured meats, cheese, homemade marmalade, and blood orange juice. The almond and coffee granite was out of this world, just right for cooling off on a warm Sicilian morning. Our room was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. There can’t be many places like it left.

Giuseppe’s hospitality was so warm, he made us feel at home and part of something special. For our last night in Sicily, we couldn’t have asked for more. The room was great quality for the price, and breakfast the next morning was incredible. When we asked where to eat, Giuseppe offered to make pasta for us. I’ve lived in Italy for 14 years, and it was easily the best I’ve had, simple but truly amazing. The hotel is on Caltagirone’s famous steps, just a few minutes from the parking area the team recommended. They even met us there to see if we needed help with our luggage. On arrival, they offered us a wonderful granita and all the information we needed. Highly recommended.

The rooms at Il Dito e la Luna B&B are spotless, and the atmosphere is intimate and welcoming. It sits right in the middle of the Santa Maria del Monte staircase, with all of Caltagerone just minutes away. You can have breakfast on the terrace or stop by for an afternoon coffee. There’s also a small boutique selling women’s goods.

The rooms are fine, and the setting on the beautiful Scala di Santa Maria del Monte is lovely. Service really stood out, with an unusual amount of kindness and hospitality.

I can only speak for the little boutique run by the B&B owner. The handmade local jewellery is lovely, and the service is very friendly.
