Park Hotel Villa Ariston

The grounds are nice, it wasn’t crowded, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The location was fine, though not great. Service was the problem. A concierge can make a big difference when you’re visiting an area for the first time, but here we were left to figure things out ourselves. We got no restaurant recommendations and had trouble with beach club reservations, including being given the wrong ones. It’s probably fine if you already know the area, but I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise.

We had a beautiful holiday in this historic villa, surrounded by a perfect Italian garden. The pool and attentive staff were lovely, and we enjoyed the rooms’ old-world atmosphere and all the details throughout the house. It felt like a “dolce far niente” palace, with good service, a beautiful setting, and an interesting sense of history. The two evenings with prosecco and live music in the garden were a nice surprise. Hope we’ll come back!

The park and pool are really lovely, and the hotel itself is charming. The beach is just 20 seconds away, and there’s a useful gym area and a tennis court. Service wasn’t very efficient, English wasn’t spoken very well, and breakfast was average. It’s good as it is, but a few small improvements could make it great.

The price was far too high for what we got. The property is nicely enclosed, with elegant rooms, friendly staff, and very good cleaning, but the hotel, food, and services all felt overpriced. It isn’t on the beachfront, and getting onto the beach meant paying at least 36 Euros a day in June or 40 Euros a day in July for an umbrella. You couldn’t just bring your own umbrella or sit on a towel without paying. We weren’t told about extra charges either. We were charged 20 Euros for two empty plates and two knives. There was no laundry service as stated, only dry cleaning priced at around 10 Euros per item. The price list wasn’t in the room; we had to ask twice. The internet was a hassle, since we had to log in every time we came back to the hotel and needed our own internet access just to sign in. Breakfast was repetitive, and basics such as a fried egg on the à la carte menu cost extra. That never happened at any other 4-star hotel for me. The coffee wasn’t special, either. The pool wasn’t deep enough, and the restaurant opened too late in the evening for families with babies. It was also very expensive, with pasta costing at least 20 Euros.
