Villena Plaza by Wonderful Italy

The room itself was nice and a reasonable standard, and surprisingly quiet. Step outside and you’re right in the middle of Palermo’s bustle, with all the pros and cons that brings. Anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere probably shouldn’t stay in the center. There’s no elevator to the 4th floor, so suitcases and strollers have to be carried up. It didn’t bother us, but it’s something to bear in mind. We also missed having the room cleaned during our stay, especially after days at the beach. We’d be happy to return.

The location is very central, but we couldn’t sleep well because loud street music continued until 1 a.m. and the windows weren’t soundproof. The balcony was small and pleasant, but had only a little stool and no chairs, so we couldn’t really enjoy it. After our first shower, the bathroom became extremely humid and had a foul smell for five days because the ventilation didn’t work properly. Service was a disaster: there’s no reception or anyone to contact, and messages through booking.com only got delayed replies. When we asked for fresh towels, the host said, “We don't offer room service.” I wasn’t asking for cleaning, just clean towels. I paid over €100 per night to enjoy my vacation, but ended up having to buy towels in town. That’s unacceptable. For that price, there are plenty of better-quality 4-star hotels nearby.
