The garden is beautiful, a lovely place to spend hours taking life slowly. This feels like a vacation from another era, with some fantastic surprises if that's what you're after. The practical side was harder: the fireplace worked well, but there wasn't enough firewood, and the stove needs fixing. Its old gas cylinder and fitting release heat into the atmosphere while it's being used. Hot water is only available in the bathroom, and there wasn't enough for two showers in a row. Given the altitude and the extra heating cost, I'd avoid the cold months, even early spring.
