Castello Bonaria Wine & Spa Resort

Exploring Tuscany and its historic towns was easy from this hotel. The restored castle is memorable, but the team made the stay: I started a list of people to praise and gave up because everyone was so good. The front desk was welcoming, the restaurant team attentive, the vineyard staff knowledgeable, and housekeeping meticulous. Everyone was warm, courteous, and completely professional.

I’m already hoping to return soon, to enjoy Monte Solaio’s wines at sunset from the panoramic terrace, looking across the valley and sea. My stay at Castello Bonaria was unforgettable, surrounded by Tuscan hills, and I got to stay in one of the castle’s original towers. That gave it an authenticity the reconstructed parts don’t have. It was my first visit to a vineyard, and watching the wine being made at the Monte Solaio winery in such a beautiful setting left a real impression. Tasting carefully chosen traditional labels among the estate’s vineyards made the experience feel special. From arrival, the welcome was warm and the staff stayed attentive and helpful. My room was spacious, cozy, spotless, and decorated in a way that suited the castle’s history. Breakfast had lots of variety and authentic flavors, with cheerful, attentive service. Dinner was refined and full of flavor, paired with an impressive selection of local Monte Solaio wines.

The wedding staff went above and beyond for our group, especially Alessia, whose positive energy made everything more enjoyable. The chefs made incredible food, and the wine was great too. The castle hospitality and spa made this a one-of-a-kind stay. Roberta gave me a spectacular massage, and I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. She’s awesome and has such positive energy. I’ll definitely be back, it was a 15/10 experience.

A rare feeling of being able to fully switch off. Perched above a medieval village, the hotel is surrounded by vineyards and old olive trees. The pool feels like a tucked-away oasis, and everything slows down there. Mornings are quiet, then the afternoons fill with golden light and the smell of warm stone and rosemary. The luxury is calm and understated, from the crisp linens to the simple decor that leaves the scenery to speak for itself. A beautiful place to reset, reconnect, or just be still.
