Mangia's Himera Resort

The staff made our stay especially pleasant. Reception, restaurant, and housekeeping were consistently friendly and professional, and the resort has direct beach access, modern, very clean rooms and bathrooms, plus roomy pool areas with comfortable loungers. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it for a relaxing Sicily beach break. A few things could be better. Breakfast felt short on variety, particularly cold cuts, breads, and fresh omelets. A small balcony table would have been useful, and loud pool music from 12 to 2 PM didn’t fit the otherwise peaceful feel. The TV was an older flat screen with just a few German channels, RTL, VOX, and Kika, and no Netflix, Amazon Prime, or phone and tablet mirroring. The minibar fridge also got pretty noisy at night.

We went in mid May and the pool was very cold, since it isn’t heated. The shower was another small annoyance, with the temperature dropping to cold every minute or so before warming again. Still, the room was great and the food had a good range of pasta, meat, fish, and vegetables. This is a quiet resort near a little rocky beach, with not much else close by. It suited us as a place to read through books we’d been putting off. The animation team was accommodating and had lots of activities if you wanted them, though there wasn’t much to do indoors. We had very little rain, so the limited indoor options didn’t get in the way of our stay.

We had a fab time, even though we wouldn’t come back. The food had lots of flavour and was really good, but the choices were limited, and the all inclusive drinks selection was lacking. Vinnie, Baci and Elia from the entertainment team were great at getting us involved; the rest seemed more focused on the French guests, and most guests spoke French. It’s very remote, miles from anywhere, and there are no paths to walk on. Taxis cost a lot, though the train is affordable.

The entertainment staff were amazing, especially Vinnie and Debra. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, kept the place very clean, and was happy to help with anything. We had a fantastic all inclusive holiday, arriving at the start of the season when things were very quiet for the first few days. Meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner had plenty of options, and there was a good selection of drinks, though no snacks during the day. The hotel is quite isolated, with no shops nearby if you’ve forgotten something. Thanks to everyone for making it such a special holiday.
