The big drawback was the noise. Friday and Saturday were extremely loud for a long time, with a DJ right below the house and the windows literally vibrating. The bars underneath were busy on weekdays too, until about 1 a.m. It would have been nice to know about this on the host’s booking page; we only heard when we picked up the key, though that handover itself went smoothly. Apart from that, it’s a great holiday apartment, with those limitations. We stayed for a week from July 17, 2021, at Casa la Castellucia/Cannibio. It’s just by the start of Cannobio’s promenade. Free public parking is right beside it, with white lined spaces free and blue lined ones paid. The apartment is above a kebab shop, bar, and ice cream parlor. The beach and lido are 3 minutes away, and dogs on leads are allowed there. Bars and restaurants or pizzerias are a minute away, with a supermarket 3 minutes off. Inside, it was very clean and practical, with tiled and wooden floors. Downstairs there’s a kitchen and dining/living room, with a gas stove and oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine, pots, dishes, and vacuum cleaner. The TV worked, but I couldn’t find any German, Austrian, or Swiss channels. There’s a round table with four chairs and a small couch. Stone stairs lead to the first floor, which has a large bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe, plus a small bathroom with a shower/tub. The wooden stairs up to the second floor are very steep. That small bedroom has two beds and no closet. There are balconies, but they’re too narrow to be much use. The lake view is lovely, and even the “Guarda di Finanza” doesn’t get in the way. Wi-Fi was free and stable. Photos to follow!
