From the garden there are spectacular views over Lago Maggiore and Cannobio, and the apartment itself is a good size, clean, and in a lovely location. There were four of us, and we really liked it. We’d definitely come back. I’ve taken off one star for two things: the walk to and from Cannobio includes about 50 meters along the road, which can feel a bit scary, and you have to pass through the bedrooms to get to the bathroom.

There’s a spacious ground-floor apartment with a garden for rent, and both have sweeping views of the lake and town. The house dates back to 1896 and sits beautifully on the slopes of Lake Maggiore, at the edge of picturesque Cannobio.

It’s okay, and there’s everything you need. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a musty smell from the basement.

The garden looks out over the lake, and the house feels cool and welcoming. We had a fantastic holiday here.
