Hotel Cannobio

Malik and Valentina really are what make Hotel Cannobi. The staff were so attentive, the views were outstanding, and we loved walking along the promenade in the evening with all the restaurants and live entertainment. Breakfast was fantastic too, especially being able to make fresh juice. The mattresses were on the thin side, but it wasn't a big enough issue to complain about. It matched what we expected from the reviews and online photos.

The staff were always around when we needed help, and breakfast had lots of tasty options. We stayed in the Spa Suite, and relaxing in the jacuzzi with the lake and Mountains in view was just perfect for our vacation. Such a wonderful stay.

We visited in the off season and loved the atmosphere, almost like a gently fading elegance out of a Hemingway novel. The hotel is ideally placed for walking everywhere, and the lake views are amazing. The rooms have an early 20th Century look but are fully functional. The beds could use an update, though that's a small complaint next to the atmosphere and the overall quality of the rooms and location. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful.

I was torn between three and four stars. The location is superb, with what may be the area's best lake view, and breakfast was a 10/10. There was a slow juicer and lots of fruit and vegetables to choose from. The shower also worked well, with warm water and plenty of pressure. The room, though, was small and much too warm, and we couldn't get the temperature down, so we had to open the window. The bed was poor: thin pillows, a very hard mattress, and a squeak. We could also hear the neighbours through the thin walls. The next night we stayed in a 55€ hotel and slept on better sheets, pillows, and a bed. This bed looked like it was meant to be baroque, but as if a kid had made it. The hotel could use a refresh to reach a true four- or five-star experience. At this price, it doesn't feel worth it right now. One tip: free street parking is about 150m from the hotel.
