Hotel Columbus

Being so close to town made it easy to explore, and the beach was right there too. The spot was perfect, with everything close by, and breakfast had an impressive choice for all tastes. It was a great setup for a relaxing getaway.

The location is great, right beside the beach, and the rooms have air conditioning, though they’re small. The cleaners deserve a lot of credit: the room was kept really clean, and the sheets were changed daily. We booked through the hotel, but communication by email was poor. I had to call every time just to get an answer to an email. Breakfast was quite plentiful, but unfortunately it was the same every day.

Our family has stayed at this hotel for a long time, and it’s disappointing that the change in ownership has had such a negative effect. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but the way the bill was handled needs improvement. I booked a room for a specified number of people at a fixed suggested price, with payment due at the hotel on the last day. The invoice was so complicated that neither receptionist could initially explain how the price was calculated. I was also charged a daily fee for a crib that was never in the room. I don’t understand how an extra crib charge can be demanded without checking with us, especially when I had booked for a particular number of people and the crib wasn’t an additional service we requested. Please avoid hidden charges in future and make invoices clear and simple enough for everyone, including your own staff, to understand.

The view from the balcony was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The cleaning ladies did their job really well. I’m offering this feedback in good faith, and hope the owners will consider some inexpensive improvements. At 8:45 am, we could only find leftover breakfast, even though breakfast is served until 9:30. The air conditioning smelled bad and blew straight onto the bed, so we couldn’t use it. There was a strong drainage smell from the bathroom as well. Drinks were extremely expensive, there was no fridge, and the Wi-Fi disconnected every one to three minutes on the day we tried to use it.
