For what we paid, it was a good experience: affordable and clean, and the staff seem like genuinely nice people who try to help as best they can. A few things to expect: air conditioning costs extra. We stayed five nights, and the room wasn't cleaned during that time. You can request an extra cleaning, including fresh sheets and towels, but there's a charge. The walls are thin, so depending on your room, you may hear the restaurant or kitchen staff in the alley. They provide two small towels, not large ones. If noise wakes you easily or you expect luxury, this may not suit you. Otherwise, I highly recommend Hotel Venus.

I barely slept at hotes venus, which was especially frustrating because I was there for business and really needed the rest. The air conditioning kept turning itself back on whenever I switched it off, and the noise from it, along with other noise, made sleep almost impossible. Only the receptionist could shut it down completely using a computer, but reception was staffed for just a few hours in the morning, and the phone number didn't work. I was also very uncomfortable that the room door couldn't be locked from inside, as I was travelling alone. Before arriving, I couldn't get in touch with the hotel either. Emails only got generated replies, and the phone was inactive. When I raised what had happened the night before, the receptionist said, "that doesn't sound like a big problem to me, as you took the room and stayed there". I didn't find that sympathetic. He didn't even address the door lock. All in all, very bad :(

The location near the beach was good, and the hotel was what we expected for the price.

It matched what we expected from so-called economy accommodation. The staff were very hospitable and all spoke English. Extra services cost extra, and cards are accepted.

I had a great time at this real Italian hotel and restaurant. Everyone was lovely, and I felt like I was with family.
