Lako Hostel

We had a dreamy stay. The place feels sweet and homey, with a comfortable, adorable lounge and really friendly staff. It’s up on the hillside in nature, but only a three-minute walk from the lake and restaurants.

The location is perfect for visiting the lake, which makes the room disappointing. We paid €104 per night for a double room with air conditioning, but it had only the bare essentials, cobwebs, a tiny shower, and a sewer smell in the windowless bathroom. You can hear the neighbors as if they were in your room because the rooms aren’t soundproofed. This isn’t a complaint about the staff, who did what they could to make the stay pleasant. I hope the review helps them improve.

The staff were wonderfully courteous and helpful, always happy to offer suggestions for hikes, meals, and things to see, or just have a friendly chat. The large terrace is a nice spot to read or sit and enjoy the view, and there’s plenty of free parking, which is really handy if you’re driving. I also appreciated that they welcome dogs of any size without extra charges or restrictions. I spent two nights at Lako Hostel in Capodimonte and came away with fond memories. It’s almost right on the lakefront, with good places for a sunset drink or dinner just steps away. The historic center is about a twenty-minute walk. Inside, the hostel has a lively, contemporary feel, and the spacious, bright, clean rooms have a simple design that’s good for relaxing or spending time together. There are no TVs in the rooms, which didn’t bother me, though some guests might miss having one. Breakfast was decent, with a good range of sweet food and a few savory choices. It was enough to start the day, though nothing remarkable. My one real gripe was the hairdryer. You have to pay extra to get one, which I find hard to understand since most places include it as a standard amenity.
