Villa la Paiola - Lago di Vico

The view was gorgeous, and the jacuzzi made it easy to unwind in the calm atmosphere. Alena was wonderful. She and her husband brought us delicious pasta and a bottle of wine on our first night, and she stayed kind and helpful throughout our visit. Villa la Paiola is somewhere I'd love to return to.

From the patio and Jacuzzi, we couldn't see another person, while the pool looks out over the lake. It gave us both strong sunshine and a cool breeze. The parking is shaded, and the grounds are kept beautifully, with sprinklers running at night. Elena and Paulo were excellent hosts, helpful and attentive whenever we needed them, but never intrusive. The villa was cleaned regularly, and fresh towels and linen were brought every other day. We'd love to return. The villa has what you need for a comfortable stay. Food from the local Discount D supermarket and Coop was inexpensive, good quality and local. During our week the days averaged 33 degrees without any rain. The region, weather and friendliness of the people were just right, and many locals we met spoke a little English. Lake Vico and its surrounding area are stunning, still unspoiled by tourism. The villa sits around 150 metres above the lake, amid forest and wildlife. Rome was easy to visit, about a 40-minute drive followed by a 10-minute Metro ride. The drive from Ciampino took just under an hour through scenic Lazio. Lake Bracciano is also worth seeing, roughly an hour's drive around it.

Villa La Paiola was a peaceful place to spend our holiday. Alena and Paola were fantastic owners, friendly and helpful. The view of the lake from our suite was sublime at every time of day. We also loved cooling off in the swimming pool after day trips. There are plenty of places to see in Lazio, including Viterbo, Bagnoregio, Lago Bracciano, Caprarola, Tarquinia and Tuscania, as well as Rome. A perfect place for a vacation. Dina and Dirk

Villa la Paiola gets our highest recommendation. Suite Rosa is a must if you want a cozy, very clean apartment where you can cook for yourself. The private terrace is quiet and has the most astonishing view. There are charming old towns nearby, and the pool is clean and lovely for a refreshing swim. Alena is a nice, smiling and helpful host.
