Sopramonte Exclusive Rooms

The sea and central Capri views from our room were the one clear bright spot. The room itself is right in the center, a few steps from the famous Piazzetta, and the all-white Capri-style decor is attractive. But it needs upkeep, especially the bathroom. The host's rudeness was a big part of why I left unhappy. The staff seemed unprofessional and out of their depth, and the young man who greeted us came across as unprepared and not helpful. When we asked to have the room cleaned daily, they did it, though the host seemed annoyed. It had otherwise been cleaned only every other day, which I don't think is acceptable for the price, particularly by the sea. The bedspread had several stains, and the bathroom needed renovation and more attention to cleanliness. The pillows were tiny and flat, like cheap discount-store ones. A closet handle was broken in a way that seemed dangerous. The safe also didn't work, and we had to call maintenance when our money got locked inside. At checkout, nobody helped with our luggage. I wouldn't recommend the place.

Carmela was the one bright spot: her welcome was superb. The rest left us disappointed, and I wouldn't come back. We paid more than the websites had indicated, so expected a suite. Instead, it was a small room with steps, a tiny bathroom, and a locked connecting door to the other room, which meant no privacy at all. We could hear the neighbors, and they could surely hear us. Getting there was awkward too, with a steep staircase. After touring Capri, we realized there are nicer, more comfortable, cheaper hotels in the center. This one doesn't even include breakfast.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and clean, with a great view, and only a few steps from the square.
