Villa Helios Capri

We didn't stay at the hotel, though we went in and thought it was beautiful. We ate outdoors beneath the trees, with some of the best service we've had in Italy after more than a week of traveling. The rabbit pasta was amazing, and the prices were fair. Definitely worth a visit.

The garden on the estate was beautiful, and breakfast was served on our private patio. The breakfast waiter and cleaning person were both lovely and did a great job. The rest of our experience, though, was really disappointing. Our booking was changed to “deluxe rooms,” supposedly an upgrade, and we were promised a sea view. There wasn't one. When we raised it, the manager made claims that didn't seem true, including that hardly any rooms had a sea view. On our first day, our rooms hadn't been cleaned. The manager blamed us, saying we'd broken the rules: leave by 11 a.m. and don't come back for 3 hours. That seemed very inconvenient. Guests shouldn't have to plan their day around cleaning or be unable to return at noon to change. Our rooms, patio rooms 101 & 102, were built into the hillside like caves. Street carts rattled overhead, and we needed earplugs to sleep. Mold covered parts of the bathroom and walls, and the room smelled moldy. When I asked for a refund, the owner bluntly refused, said our deal was good enough, and didn't respond to the mold issue. The main building also looked run down, which was heartbreaking. The manager and owner treated us with arrogance and lies. If you want to enjoy your vacation, find somewhere else.

The manager greeted us as soon as we arrived and spent around 20 minutes explaining things to do in Capri and how to get around the island. Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were super friendly. Highly recommend.

We spent two nights here in October. Both rooms were clean and had sea views, though the decor wasn't very modern. The owner was kind and attentive, and the location was great, just a 3 minute walk from the piazza.
