Hotel Ristorante Radar

The roads up to the hotel are the main drawback. Some stretches are so narrow only one car fits, and meeting another vehicle there is a nightmare, especially in a bigger car. There were also days when the WiFi signal was poor. Still, I thought the stay was very worthwhile. It’s a family-run hotel with wonderful hospitality, and the owner is a sweet, knowledgeable woman who’s closely involved, speaks English very well, and does everything she can to make guests comfortable. Everyone on staff was capable and willing to help. The hotel is beautiful, with very clean rooms, Samsung smart frames that work as TVs, powerful AC, and bidets. You get an amazing view of Carrara on one side and the marble mountains on the other. The caves are about a 30-minute drive away, and I recommend visiting them. Dinner is fine dining, mostly seafood, with things like delicious truffle ravioli, steaks, and burgers. The chef knows what he’s doing, and the food is very fresh and fancy for the price. The hotel is also conveniently between the mountains, the beach with its very clean sea, a superstore, and the railway. Hiking trails start just a few metres away. I hope to visit again.

The road is quite narrow, but the views make up for it. From the terrace, the scenery is amazing, and the rooms are very clean. The staff were friendly and polite. The restaurant is a highlight, with great food and generous portions.

The road to the hotel is narrow and has a few turns. It’s not the best base for visiting 5 terre, but it works well for the Carrara quarries, Carrara town, Massa, and the sea. I booked two nights here after failing to find anywhere in La Spezia, and the hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was clean, the coast view was beautiful, and the staff were very kind. It saved my holiday.

A lovely place to rest and stay. I just wish there were a fridge or minibar to keep bottled water cold. You can get water from the restaurant, but if you arrive late, nobody is there.
