Villa Guelfi

Villa Guelfi is a lovely quiet spot in the middle of Tuscany. The garden is beautifully kept, with a relaxing pool and green corners where you can read, rest, or just enjoy the quiet. Once you pass through the gate, the traffic feels far away. The owners are kind and helpful, and always ready with useful advice. Our room was spacious, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed. It's also easy to get to Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, and even Florence from here.

It was so quiet at night, with no traffic noise, and the whole place felt tucked into nature. The park-like garden is huge, with something new to spot on every walk, and there's a clean pool everyone can use. Our apartment was clean and beautifully furnished, with its own outdoor dining area. The owner welcomed us warmly, and his family, who live in the villa, were always available. Their three dogs and three cats sometimes wander around, so don't be surprised by a little rustling! :D There are about six apartments here, and from outside you'd never expect the paradise behind the high walls. We felt at home straight away. Everything worked well, and the location is fantastic. Penny is just a 5-minute walk away, and the price for six nights was very reasonable. I'd book again for the peace and quiet. There are a few things that could use work. The back garden felt neglected, and the garden paths, especially near the sleeping area, could do with less grass and leaves. The area by the washing machine was overgrown too. Some chair cushion covers had stains and mold, and the poolside seating also had mold. The cupboards smelled damp, and the apartment was very warm. There was air conditioning, but I didn't like having it on all night. Our apartment was quite small and still seemed unfinished, with a polystyrene ceiling. The bathroom could be improved, and there was nowhere to put shampoo. The kitchen was missing quite a few things, including pot holders and a small saucepan for warming milk. The washing machine was ancient, with no digital display, and even moved forward a few steps during the spin cycle! :D Getting to the apartment meant hauling luggage over gravel, which was annoying. The mattress was hard, and I quickly got back pain.

We had a wonderful week in a spacious apartment at this well-equipped villa. It's in Pisa, not far from the Leaning Tower, and the sea is about 20 minutes away. Florence, with all its historical monuments, is roughly an hour away.

We had a wonderful stay in a peaceful setting. The owners were very kind, and the apartments were lovely, with tasteful furnishings.
