Suite Borboni’s House/ Loft

The apartment itself was pleasant, charming inside, and centrally located near the Royal Palace and train station. Everything else about the stay was disastrous, and Katia showed no care for customers. She was rude, and I wouldn’t stay there again. Look elsewhere. Our booking had been canceled in 2020 because of COVID, and from then on Katia seemed irritable and unaccommodating. We finally stayed August 16-18. I’d repeatedly texted her before leaving, but she never mentioned the ZTL cameras. Following the apartment address on GPS took me through the restricted traffic zone in the historic center to reach Via Sant'Agostino. I thought Katia was there, but when I called, I learned the keys had to be picked up elsewhere. When I told her the ZTL issue was down to her not warning me, she just said I’d have to deal with it. We found the sheets and pillow for the fifth bed were missing, so we had to go to her house to get them. Then Katia complained that we hadn’t emptied the air conditioning water tank, without having told us it needed doing. The tank provided for it held only about two glasses of water.

After booking through Booking.com, we arrived in Caserta and were told by the host that water problems meant we’d be moved to another property. It was missing everything from sheets to toilet paper, though it had plenty of dust and a musty smell that stayed all night. We had to sleep wrapped in beach towels. When I asked for a partial refund, she said she’d warned us well in advance, meaning when we arrived in Caserta, and that she’d supplied everything we needed.

I had to cancel my stay in Caserta. On the day I arrived from Turin, I called about checking in and was told the reservation had been canceled because of plumbing problems, and that Booking.com was supposed to notify me. They had my email and phone number and knew I was traveling from Turin, but nobody bothered to tell me. Completely unprofessional and disreputable.

Katia, the owner, was very kind and helpful when she welcomed us. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. It’s just steps from Caserta’s main street, with the Royal Palace about a five-minute walk away. There’s a paid parking lot a few meters from the property, which came in handy since it’s in a restricted traffic zone. We stayed Tuesday night and will definitely return to Suite Borboni's House.
