The people working here were genuinely pleasant and helpful. That was the bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay. The room rate is far too high for what you get, and charging €25 per person per hour for the spa feels unreasonable at those prices. It’s just a heated pool and a tiny steam room. The rooms are small, and the sleek design leaves out basics: nowhere to hang a towel, no shelf for shower soap or shampoo, and no tissues. The outdoor waterfall area is so cold that you’d have to be a polar bear to sit there. The website makes this sound like a nature retreat, but it’s on a busy road and the garden isn’t peaceful. When we asked about a nice walk nearby, we were told there wasn’t one. It’s also a long way from Lake Como, at least a 30-40 minute drive on narrow roads where you may have to stop and back up to let another car through. I’ve spent 30 years travelling and over 2,000 nights in hotels, and this doesn’t feel like a five-star property. I’d put it somewhere in the low to mid four-star range at best. Marriott Bonvoy elites, even Ambassador members, shouldn’t count on an upgrade, despite the benefit supposedly applying at Design hotels. The hotel takes advantage of being described as near the lake to charge too much. I don’t mean to be harsh, but you should know what you’re booking.

It’s a modern hotel in the small village of Cassago Brianza, within reach of Milan, Lake Como and Lecco. But the price is way out of line with the location. For 500 euros, you can stay quite comfortably right on Lake Como or in Lecco, so this hotel simply doesn’t justify its rate.

The little chocolates from the colzani bakery were a lovely touch, and Mauricio, Eugenio and the rest of the c-hotel staff made us feel so welcome. They even drove us to and from the nearby train station in a downpour, though that wasn’t an advertised service. Our room was clean and beautiful, with big windows, and the pool was a lovely place to sit and unwind. The masseuse was friendly and gave a wonderful treatment. The food and service were incredible too. Such kind, down-to-earth people and a beautiful, peaceful hotel. Thank you for a real spa experience!

The breakfast alone was outstanding, generous and varied, with really good ingredients. I’ve stayed at plenty of five-star hotels around Italy, especially in Milan, and this place, about 30 minutes from the city centre, is the best one I’ve experienced. It’s beautiful, the rooms are fantastic, and the amenities have thoughtful touches inspired by nature. A unique stay I won’t forget.

I paid €399 for one night and wouldn’t say it was worth €3.99. In the end, Marriott helped resolve the issue, but the manager still refused to offer any kind of refund. Do not book here. I’d switched to this hotel after checking into the Sheraton Como and being disappointed. The Sheraton cancelled my reservation without a charge, and as a Bonvoy Platinum member I rebooked here. Check-in was smooth: the staff explained things and showed me how everything worked. I arrived at 9pm, worked past midnight, then got into bed around 00.30 and realised the advertised Queen bed was actually two singles pushed together. For a luxury hotel, that was unacceptable. Since it was the early hours and I was only staying one night, I didn’t call reception or want to pack up and move rooms. They called around 10.30am to ask if I was coming to breakfast. I wasn’t interested, so I politely declined. At checkout I showed a photo of the bed and explained why I was unhappy. The receptionist wasn’t helpful, so I asked for the manager. He was rude, obnoxious and very argumentative. I said I’d contact Marriott to sort it out, and he kept emailing me, making various accusations. Whenever I asked him to prove them, he couldn’t. He claimed I’d screamed and shouted during our morning conversation. When I asked for the CCTV, he said it had been deleted after 24 hours and had no sound. If I’d really been shouting, why would I ask him for the footage? I didn’t know it had no audio or that he wouldn’t keep it.
