Velia's Home

We found Velia’s home just in time after booking at the last minute, and the room was clean and ready when we arrived. Check-in was easy. Catherine even offered us a lift when I needed the pharmacy, and she brought sweets and food for the kids. Such a warm welcome. Bruno was always quick to answer my questions on WhatsApp, though he only speaks Italian, so use an online translator if needed. The bus stop for Rome is about 3 minutes away, and the ride takes around an hour. The home is a few minutes from the lovely Castel itself, and about 30 minutes from Lake Bracciano, with lots of restaurants. I’d consider staying at Velia’s home again if I’m in Castel Santeglia, and can easily recommend it.

After a weekend of trekking, this was just right for resting before heading back to the city. We booked at the last minute, and the room was ready only 15 minutes later. The owner met us out on the street and showed us where to park, then suggested a farmhouse in the countryside where we had a wonderful meal. Our room had its own bathroom, towels, a hairdryer, and soaps. They’d also left water and coffee pods for free.

Mr. Bruno is such a kind owner, and the place is really nice and peaceful. I’ll definitely go back.

We all liked the roomy, well-equipped rooms during our two nights over Easter weekend 2025, staying in Cascine 1, 2, and 3. Cascina No. 1 on the ground floor was especially convenient for my husband, who has hip problems, since there wasn’t a single step to climb. Castel Sant’Elia is a favorite of mine, and now of my husband and children too. Bringing the whole family there made us feel even more connected to this little town, with its history, sometimes wild nature, deafening quiet, and uniquely flavorful delicacies. One small request, please add a decaffeinated coffee capsule!
