We stopped in for lunch on our way back from a hike after being turned away rather rudely by two restaurants in nearby Casteldelfino. The family were having lunch themselves, but welcomed us in even though we hadn’t booked. We chose to sit outside for the fresh air and lovely view, though the inside is pleasant and welcoming too. Our hostess, Cinzia, brought out bread, antipasti, pasta, secondo, meatballs with vegetables, and delicious pesche ripiene for dessert. Everything was made in-house and very good. The antipasti platter for two was excellent but a little pricey at 20€, while the pasta at 10€, secondo at 9€, and dessert at just 3€ were quite reasonable. We tried both the white and red vino sfuso and didn’t care for either, but there are bottled options we’d try next time. It was a lovely lunch to finish our day outdoors.

I was surprised there weren’t more people, because the food was very good, and we learned that everything was made in-house. The appetizer was tasty, but the portion felt meager for the price. The house wine was disappointing too, especially the white.

We were welcomed warmly by Cinzia and her family again this year during the Agnello Treffen motorcycle rally. The rooms are warm and inviting, made with traditional local wood, and the food was excellent as always. We’ll return next year, and recommend it to anyone looking for peace and great food.

We felt at home right away at Cinzia and her family’s property in the Varaita Valley. They were so kind and sweet, and the room was comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was superb, with delicious homemade desserts. At lunch, she treated us to local products and traditional Piedmontese dishes she had prepared. We were truly delighted.
