The food was the best we had on our trip, and dinner around the shared table made it easy to meet people from all over. Breakfast is pretty basic, though by the end of the week I didn’t need much in the morning anyway. The rooms are rustic and simple, but the beds were very comfortable. I did miss being able to make a cup of tea. The horse welfare clearly matters here. They get daily time out in paddocks, and they had lovely temperaments. Fabio was a patient instructor, and the riding lessons cater to different levels. I’d especially recommend the natural horsemanship and western riding course if you’ve ridden before, including cantering. The skills and confidence carry over to English riding too. It’s a big operation, with more than 60 horses and lots of guests, but things run smoothly. July was warm rather than too hot at 800 metres, though bring waterproofs. For a quieter stay, I’d choose a time outside July and August, when the youth camps aren’t running.
