Hotel Stabia

Annalisa was so sweet, and the staff were amazing. I had such a good time and definitely want to come back. If you want a quieter, more relaxing stay away from crowds of tourists, you can still enjoy the ocean and take daytime trips to Positano, Sorrento, and Capri Island from here.

We all paid the same rate as part of our bus group, but some people got updated rooms with ocean views and plenty of space while others, including us, were assigned old rooms facing the back street or courtyard. How they chose who got which room, I have no idea. The hotel has no online pictures of these outdated rooms, so it felt like Russian roulette. Ours was barely bigger than a broom closet, with a constant sewage smell from the old toilet, which had no pee trap. The tiny bathroom had more mildew than grout. The AC only seemed to cool the windowsill. Because of the smell, we kept the window open, and around 11:30 pm staff spent nearly an hour dumping bottles and trash below us. My mother's room was bigger, but her shower overflowed into the room. Ours barely drained, so we wore flip flops to shower. The towels were worn, some stained, and the old mattress had a big lump in the middle. We complained three times and were brushed off. The only response was some caulking over mildew in the shower the next day. My husband and I own a hotel, and we'd be ashamed to rent a room like this.

The rooftop was the real highlight for us, with breathtaking views of the mountains and sea. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant too, and it was fantastic. The rooms were tidy and really nice, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great stay.

The rooftop was lovely, and we spent a good while sunbathing and cooling off with a dip in the small pool. The restaurant looked great, with fantastic views, and breakfast had a nice range of buffet options. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, and service there was excellent. The bar was beautifully decorated, and its staff were excellent too. The room was basic, with a little street-facing balcony that got noisy. The smart TV didn't work, the bathroom had little storage, and the shower was so tiny I could barely move. Its door wouldn't close properly, so the bathroom flooded after every shower. At least we got fresh towels every day. The hotel is fine for a few nights and seems the best in that area, close to the beach and lots of bars and restaurants. The place feels like a mix of luxury and age, and some parts need updating. Taxis and Uber are very, very expensive. The train station is about a 12-minute walk.
