Villa Lucia

The huge balcony is what really sells the flat, with views across Ischia island and Vesuvius. It’s a peaceful little haven near town, though not close enough to walk, and a bit tricky to find. It’s a flat in a shared villa, with a huge bedroom and TV, a lovely en suite bathroom with a powerful hot shower, a small kitchen with a table and two chairs, and a laundry room. Everything was very clean, but the wallpaper could use a refresh. The kitchen could also do with a kettle, wooden spoon and some decent knives.

We called after arriving at night without a reservation, and luckily Villa Lucia had room for us for one night. It was tidy and clean, with everything we needed to be comfortable. Parking was free, too.

A quiet getaway with lovely mountain views, yet still close to the city. The little private terrace or balcony outside the room adds to that feeling of being away from it all. The rooms are furnished with a mix of modern and slightly rustic touches, and feel like home. There’s also a kitchenette you can use. Wonderful place!

We’ve stayed at this wonderful B&B for the third year running. It’s handy for the Amalfi Coast and the Vesuvian thermal baths in Torre Annunziata, and sits in the archaeological area with the Stabian Villas. Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna are definitely worth seeing. Admission is free, and, from memory, they’re closed on Tuesdays, but check the internet. We always take the top-floor apartment, which is comfortable and well equipped, with a washing machine, an almost perfect kitchen apart from the small fridge, and a rooftop terrace facing Vesuvius. The owners welcome their guests and are very kind and available if anything needs sorting. There’s free parking and a swimming pool, too. Their Holiday restaurant is across from the B&B and serves excellent dinners, including excellent pizzas. Top rating from us.
