Vesuvian Inn

It’s a large, spacious hostel, and I really liked the morning and evening views over Naples. It’s a little way from the city center, but the location has a charm of its own. Definitely recommend a visit 😊

The view was the only good thing here. I opened the bedroom door to find two beds, one fully made and the other just a mattress with a pillow, no sheets or pillowcase. We asked for bed clothes many times and never got what we asked for. Instead, they brought ten spare towels. After a lot of back and forth, they moved us to a different room with a properly made bed. The food was awful too. The first dinner had hard pasta and enough pesto to cover the bad taste. The next course was wet meat with unusually salty lettuce, which came with every meal and nobody touched. Beware of the Vietnamese sausage. It was undercooked mystery meat, the worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Most of the meals were just as bad. The only edible things on the table were water and bread. Don’t let this place fool you.

The hotel was really clean, with a lovely view. The food was great and unlimited, though you have to stick to a tight pasta schedule, which is understandable in Italy. WiFi worked well, even on the hotel buses, where you can watch movies or tiktoks, though the upload speed could be better. The rooms are falling apart. The towel holders come off the wall when you touch them, the toilet door doesn’t lock, and the beds are too short.

The hotel’s garden is really pretty, with a nice view of Castellamare di Stabia, the sea and Vesuvio. I stayed for quite a while and generally enjoyed it. The rooms weren’t fancy, but they were fairly clean, the beds were comfortable, and I liked the window blinds. The food wasn’t great, but it’ll do, and the WiFi was strong. The one drawback is how high up the hotel is. It’s a long walk from the city center and the Circumvesuviana train. Still, it’s a great place for school trips and other organized groups.
