B&B del Caroseno

We shared three pastas at Osteria Caroseno, and every one was incredible, rich in flavor and clearly made with care. The place is tucked off a side street from the main road, with beautiful, quaint ambience. Desserts were the one part that left a little to be desired. The meal and wine were really affordable, and I can’t recommend it enough. Book ahead and enjoy!

We spent €86, which seemed quite reasonable for what we ordered. The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted really good, and our friendly, attentive waiter made lunch even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A fantastic meal, and highly recommended for good food and excellent service.

The quiet, romantic feel makes this a lovely place for a date. We really enjoyed the food and wine too. One of the best restaurants we went to in Puglia during our holiday.

The charming feel of the central dining area was about the only thing we liked. We were four people and ordered four pasta dishes and four meat dishes. The tortellini were the one dish that worked; the gnocchi were watery and completely bland. The meat was disappointing too. The lamb was very greasy, the chicken much too salty, and the veal so tough it was hard to chew. We tried to tell the waiter, but nobody came by for more than 30 minutes, so we eventually went to the bar to pay and said we hadn’t liked the meat. They gave each of us a scoop of melon sorbet, though it tasted like water. We’d made a special trip to eat here, and all four of us left disappointed. It feels like they want the restaurant to succeed, but the skills and quality aren’t there yet. They might be better off offering fewer dishes and doing them well.
