Semiramide Palace Hotel

We were pleasantly surprised by how pretty and elegant the hotel was. The price was just right, and breakfast was wonderful.

A couple of things were decent: the location worked for visiting Monopoly and Polignano Al Mare, breakfast was okay, and some staff tried to be attentive. But that effort didn’t make up for the hotel’s biggest problem, the hygiene. Our room wasn’t clean, and the bathroom was the dirtiest I’ve ever seen in a hotel. It wasn’t just grime, there was mold, and we seriously felt our health was at risk when showering. I attached photos to warn others. Worst hotel we saw in Italy. Never coming back.

There’s plenty of parking for cars and larger vehicles, and the lobby, bar, and ballroom are nice enough. The rooms, though, were old, tired, dirty, and poorly maintained. The toilet valve didn’t work properly, and the bathtub plumbing had been leaking for a long time. The wood trim was rotting, the carpet stained, and we had to use every towel in the room to soak up water on the floor. Maybe this was a four-star hotel years ago, but by US standards it’s one star now. There must be better places to stay in this otherwise wonderful little Italian town.

We stayed for two nights, and the room was in such poor condition it should have been closed. There was mold all over the bathroom and the shower was broken. When we complained, staff said the hotel was full, so we couldn't move until the next day. We had to use that shower on our first night. This was the worst hotel we stayed at in Italy, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
