La Terrazza sulle Madonie

La Terrazza Sulle Madonie is one of the best places to stay in this part of Sicily. Daniela and Calogero were professional and really friendly, and gave me useful suggestions for places to see in the beautiful Madonie park. My room had all the comforts and a gorgeous view. The accommodation service was impeccable, and breakfast was delicious. You might even be lucky enough to have Mixology come greet you at the gate. Highly recommended.

You’ll need a car to get to B&b La Terrazza sulle Madonie di Daniela, since it’s a little way from the major cities. But the high-up location gives you lovely views over the Sicilian hills, and the terrace is a nice place to sit in the sunshine and slow down with nature. Daniela and her family were so warm and welcoming. My husband and I aren’t very good at Italian, but Google Translate with the language pack downloaded worked well enough. Daniela’s kindness came through in her smile and cheerful “Okay!” We also liked spending time with their dog, Shelly, and the kittens. Her family treated us like family, too. Our room was on the second floor. There’s a handy elevator, so we could put all our luggage in it instead of carrying everything up and down the stairs. Getting in and out of the room was easy without help from the host, which meant we could take day trips and return whenever we wanted. The area felt very safe. Our main worry was running out of gas while driving uphill, since we hadn’t filled the rental car earlier and the gas stations weren’t open around midnight. We arrived late in the day and told Daniela that I have celiac disease and need to avoid gluten. The next morning she put together the best breakfast I had in Sicily. It was a feast of local food: gluten-free bread, cakes from the local bakery, butter, jams, fruit from their trees, prosciuttos, avocados, freshly cooked eggs from their chickens, water, juice and coffee. I even had oat milk in my coffee. Since the weather was lovely, Daniela suggested we eat upstairs on the terrace, and we happily did. After breakfast we saw Daniela’s husband by our rental car with a box of persimmons from their fruit trees. He offered us some. The fruit was such a bright color, and everything we ate here was so good in both quality and taste. I’d highly recommend staying here. I’ll be dreaming about the views and food for years.

The location and facilities are first class. The hosts are lovely and take great care of their guests.

We found the hotel online by chance, looking for somewhere near Piano Battaglia, about 30 minutes away. Then we heard Daniela’s sweet voice and booked straight away. When we arrived, they welcomed us like family they’d been waiting for. The building was lovely, new and clean, with a breathtaking view, a comfortable temperature and scented tablecloths. Every little detail had been taken care of. The next morning, Daniela had set out a table full of delicious food she’d cooked, along with her smile and the kindness she’s known for. Her husband even took us along an alternate snow-covered route to avoid the Sunday crowds at Piano Battaglia. What a dream. It made our weekend feel special and restorative, and the price was great. I’m home now, having breakfast with her apple pie. We absolutely recommend it and will be back. See you soon!
