The villa, pool, and huge garden made two incredible weeks for our family of four and our dog. We had everything we needed to enjoy those beautiful days in Tuscany. The house is extremely well maintained, and we’ve stayed at a few places in Italy, but this was the best location we’ve had there. It’s peaceful and quiet, yet a great base for exploring northern Tuscany and beyond. Lucca, Livorno, Barga, La Spezia, Forte dei Marmi, Porto Venere, and Pisa are all about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive away. We also loved nearby Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a charming little town with nice restaurants. Our favorite was la Bottega del Fattore. The garden is lovely and has loads of space. It’s quiet here, and a really nice place to spend a holiday with friends or family.

There’s plenty for kids to do across the spacious grounds, including swings and a ping-pong table. We also enjoyed the large pool and the snug barbecue spot with its own picnic table. The house has a big south-facing terrace and balcony, which worked perfectly for breakfast and dinner. The property is secluded and immaculately maintained. Getting there takes a bit of care if you’re driving a low-slung car, since the access road isn’t suitable for those. Castelnuovo is easy to reach for shopping, and you can get there by e-bike too. We felt very comfortable here.
