Kompatscherhof

The weak Wi-Fi was the main snag for us. We worked from the apartment during the day and ended up using our phones as hotspots, which worked fine for long video calls because the signal was good. On our last day we booked a coworking space in Castelrotto called SOSS, in case you don't want to tether. We were there for six nights and stayed upstairs in a room with a balcony over the meadow. It was so peaceful, with lots of greenery, and we ate on the balcony while watching the sunset each day. Chickens, goats, and a few cute cats wander around. Castelrotto / Kastelruth is a short 15 min drive away for groceries and other essentials, and there are beautiful hiking spots nearby too. We cooked most meals in the apartment. The stove and fridge worked well, and there were plenty of pots, pans, and plates. It also had a Bialetti (Moka) coffee maker. The equipment was a little old but in good shape and worked fine, and the beds were very comfortable. The host speaks German, so Google Translate may help if you don't. I mostly messaged her through Booking.com, which has a translation feature. There's no washing machine, but laundry service is available for EUR10 if you ask the host. I wanted to dry my clothes myself, and she kindly lent me a drying rack. I also bought eggs from the chickens downstairs and homemade jam from her.
